How do I make withdrawals abroad?
You can make withdrawals using either your HSBC debit or credit card.
Debit cards: You can withdraw from any Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) in the world that is linked to the Cirrus or Visa Plus network, using your debit card. The network logo printed on your card must also be displayed on the ATM. Cirrus and Visa Plus logos are displayed below:

- Authorisation of the transaction depends on available funds in your current account (credit balance + overdraft limit) at the time of withdrawal.
- Withdrawal limits in other currencies are determined by the equivalent of the US Dollar limits displayed above.
Credit cards:
You can also make withdrawals using your HSBC Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card at all ATMs that are part of the Visa Plus, Cirrus or American Express networks. Please verify that the network logo printed on your card is also displayed on the ATM.

My parent(s) are HSBC Premier Customers in Brazil
HSBC Premier customers do not pay fees for withdrawals abroad made at ATMs that are linked to the Cirrus or Visa Electron networks. HSBC Premier Customers can withdraw up to US$500 (or local currency equivalent). To enjoy this service, you must be a joint account holder with a parent that is an HSBC Premier customer.

How do I open an account abroad?
If you are moving to a country where HSBC is present, we can assist you with the account opening process if you are currently a customer of HSBC in Brazil. If you are not a customer of HSBC Brazil, we invite you to open an account with us in order to have access to this service.
HSBC customers enjoy the following benefits:
- Faster and easier account opening process. In some countries, we are able to set up your account in the destination country before you leave Brazil (subject to country regulations and sufficient notice).
- Preferential fees for international fund transfers
- In-country assistance via our global network of International Banking Centres (IBC)

HSBC Premier Customers

I am a university student in Brazil
If you are a university student in Brazil, HSBC has an account designed especially for you.
The benefits of this account include:
- Pre-approved credit limit of R$800 (divided equally between a current account overdraft and credit card);
- Fee waiver of the monthly current account charge for a duration of 3 months;
- No proof of income required;
- Credit card annual fee waive.1;
- Full access to the HSBC Telephone Banking and Internet Banking services. Use these services to:
- Pay monthly tuition fees;
- Set up standing orders;
- Direct debits for purchases, among others.

Documents needed to open a University Student account:
- RG card;
- CPF card (Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas - a national tax ID number) - original and copy;
- Proof of address;
- Proof of payment of most recent monthly tuition.
Please note: Applicants under 18 years of age need a legal guardian in order to open an account.
How do I transfer funds abroad?
Outbound international transfers can be made at your HSBC branch. The account holder or a legally authorised representative must be present at the branch to sign the foreign exchange contract that states the conversion rates for the transfer.
Please note that due to the hours of the Brazilian foreign exchange market, this procedure can only be done from Monday to Friday, 10:00am - 3:00pm at the branch. It cannot be done via Internet Banking or the HSBC Call Centre.
